About Ken Biles
As you can see from my picture, I don't look like the typical politician. That's because I'm not a politician.
I am a third generation Colorado native. I grew up in a small area of unincorporated Adams County, called Shaw Heights. I still live there, quite literally four blocks from the house I grew up in. My little neighborhood is surrounded by Westminster. In fact, the city limits end at my property.
I decided to run for Congress after watching the House Hearing on Facebook Libra, and realizing that none of the Representatives on the House Finance and Banking Committee, know anything about finance or banking. I am a firm believer that you can't regulate properly, if you don't understand what it is that you are regulating.
I spent a 30 year career working in the Financial Industry. I was not the head of a bank or brokerage firm. I worked in the Back Office, where the books and records are kept and updated. I learned an awful lot about the Financial Industry. I even held Broker/Dealer Licenses at one time.
After going to the doctor to see about getting a rhinophyma removed (a lump of skin on my nose) and finding out that my insurance probably wouldn't cover it, but there was no way to know for sure until after the surgery. The cost of the surgery was $7,000-$10,000 that I would have to pay, if insurance wouldn't cover it. Knowing that much more intricate procedures that aren't covered by insurance, cost a lot less (like $250 Lasik), I decided that maybe I knew something those isolated Representatives in their Ivory Towers didn't know.
I’m not rich, I’m not connected, and I’m not all that influential outside of certain small circles. I’m just an average guy, who enjoys playing video games, and spending time with friends. I work hard for my money, and feel like I should be paid more than I am. I’m an author, an Internet Entrepreneur, and a guy who prefers a t-shirt and cargo pants, to a suit and tie. My yard needs work, the weeds are overwhelming. I would love to have the lawns my neighbors have, but they’re all retired, so they have the time to devote to those great yards.
I’m not just like you, but I think I’m similar. I worry about bills, I pay far too much in taxes, I go to the grocery store, and I wonder if I’ll be any better off tomorrow, than I am today.
This is why I'm running. I understand what it's like to make ends meet, and watch the cost of living skyrocket out of control. I want to do something about it.
With your help I can!
